5 Things: Pro Wakeboard Tour Returns to Acworth

Here are the things you need to know before heading out the door on May 16.

3. Happening now. The Pro Wakeboard Tour makes its return to in Acworth this Thursday, May 19 through Saturday, May 21. The main event will take place on Saturday from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. On Thursday and Friday the event begins at 9 a.m. and ends around 4 p.m., but not all of the action takes place on the water. On land, fans will experience great food and music, athlete autograph signings, chances to win free stuff, and shopping at the most cutting-edge stores for water-sports equipment including boats, wakeboards, wakeskates, sunglasses and the latest in wakeboarding and surfing fashions. This is a family oriented event and will provide a fun filled day of sun, surf and excitement for all who attend.

To purchase tickets in advance, visit www.prowakeboardtour.com. Tickets will also be available for purchase on event dates at Dallas Landing Park: $13.00 for ages 13 and older, $5 for ages 6 to 12, and ages 5 and under are admitted free. Parking will be available at the park Thursday and Friday. Limited parking will be available at the park on Saturday. Shuttles will be provided from downtown Acworth.

5. What about May 16. On May 16, 1929, the first Academy Awards were handed out in Hollywood, CA. On this day in 1991, Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom addressed a joint session of the United States Congress, making her the first British monarch to address the U.S. Congress.
