5 Things: Upcoming Labor Day Parade

Here are the things you need to know before starting the day on Aug. 9.

2. In case you missed it. : The organization is one of 50 nationwide competing for grants from the ASPCA, which will award money to those who improve their adoption rates the most.

3. Happening. Love the Lake Festival Parade: The will be hosting the Love the Lake Festival Parade on Saturday, Sep. 3 at 10 a.m. on Main Street in downtown Acworth. This year’s theme is Grand Old Flag. Does your company, organization, school or civic group have a specialty vehicle, mascot, or want to get creative and design your own float to compete for prizes? Consider being a part of the parade.

5. What about Aug. 9. On Aug.9, 1936, Jesse Owens became the first American to win four gold medals in one Olympics. On this day in 1945, the U.S. dropped a nuclear bomb over Nagasaki, Japan, killing an estimated 74,000 people.
