Allatoona Lake Wants Your Christmas Trees

Find out where you can recycle Christmas trees this holiday season.

The is accepting Christmas trees for recycling at three locations this holiday season: Acworth, Woodstock and Canton.

  • Galt’s Ferry Day Use Area, 7299 Rocky Ln., Acworth.
  • Victoria Day Use Area, 937 Victoria Landing Dr., Woodstock.
  • Sweetwater Campground, 1400 Fields Chapel Rd., Canton.

Galt’s Ferry Day Use Area, Victoria Day Use Area and Sweetwater Campground will be used as staging areas from today through Jan. 7 for tree dropoffs. The areas will be open daily from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Visitors are asked to place trees in the flagged area at the beach parking lot at Galt’s Ferry and Victoria and at the overflow parking area at Sweetwater.

Trees will be recycled and used in the Christmas Tree Recycling and Fish Habitat Improvement Program. This program is in partnership with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Keep Bartow Beautiful, the Boy Scouts of America, and others.

Donated trees will be placed at fishing jetties to help fish habitat and to improve fishing in those areas.
