April Fools' Day, Sunny Weekend, Horizon Kickball Registration Open

Here are the things you need to know before heading out the door on April 1.

1. Weather. There is a chance of showers before 8 a.m., then a slight chance of sprinkles between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. The rest of the day is expected to be partly sunny, with a high near 63 and calm wind between 5 and 10 mph. Gusts can be as high as 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent, according to the NWS. Going into tonight, there will be a slight chance of showers between 8 p.m. and 2a.m., with a low around 43. Beautiful sunny weather is in for this weekend, with a high near 67 on Saturday and 75 on Sunday.

2. In case you missed it. : Cobb County Board of Education Chairwoman Alison Bartlett is reportedly recovering and doing well after suffering a heart attack Wednesday morning. While Alison Bartlett will be out a few days, the other six members of the Cobb Board of Education still are expected to meet with the grand jury Friday.

3. Happening now. Horizon Kickball League: Teams are now forming for the summer Horizon Kickball League. This league is open for all individuals who have special needs, ages 5-21 years old. Games will be held Tuesday nights for ages 5-12 and Thursday nights for ages 13-21 from June 21 to July 28. Registration deadline is June 3. The cost is $15, which covers jerseys and league expenses. If you are unable to afford the cost, opportunities for financial aid are available by contacting Lauren Ham 770-917-1234. Register online or at the office.
