Jail and Bail, Allatoona High School Shoe Drive and Pledge Day

Here are the things you need to know before heading out the door on March 29.

1. Weather. A little bit of sunshine is in for today, but don't get your hopes too high. It is expected to be partly sunny during the day with a high temp near 65 degrees and southeast wind between 5 and 10 mph, according to the National Weather Service. Going into tonight, there will be occasional showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 2 a.m. with a low around 53 degrees. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Expect the wet weather to continue for a few more days with showers and thunderstorms in the forecast through the week.

2. In case you missed it. : Hundreds of  students participated in the filming of a "Lip Dub" music video, a mass video production done in one continuous shot. The song is a production of the national campaign "Sources of Strength: Teens Helping Teens" in association with Harrison Broadcasting & Cobb Education Television. 3. Happening now. Shoe Drive: Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) is sponsoring a shoe drive through March 30. Cedarcrest Church is sending a group of high school students to Texas on a mission trip and the kids are in desperate need of shoes. You can drop off shoes of any size, boys and girls, to room 2222.
 
Pledge Day: A Pledge Day to not text and drive will be held at on March 30. Students will have an opportunity to take the pledge, enter for a t-shirt raffle, and get a texting band to help remind us not to text and drive. We will have , Owner of Kennesaw Driving School, and an Allstate representative here to help us understand the dangers of distracted driving. "Jail and Bail": It's still not too late to register for the "Jail and Bail" fundrasing event held by the on April 1 to benefit Georgia Special Olympics. Citizens can apply for a "warrant" to have an individual "arrested" by the Acworth Police Department and taken to "jail". The subject of the warrant will be notified in advance of the impending warrant and be given the opportunity to participate by "posting bail".

Warrant applications are available at the Acworth Police Department located at 4400 Acworth Industrial Dr. The fee for a warrant application is $50, and must be paid in advance. The subject who is "arrested" will have a "bail" of $50. All "bribes" must also be at least $50 to be considered. 5. What about March 29. On March 29, 2008, 35 countries and over 370 cities joined Earth Hour for the first time, a global event organized by World Wildlife Fund (WWF) held on the last Saturday of March every year. It is celebrated by turning off non-essential lights and other electrical appliances in households and businesses for one hour, to help raise awareness to the need to take actions on climate change.
