Last Day to Register for "Jail and Bail" and Apply for Allatoona PTSA Scholarships

Here are the things you need to know before heading out the door on March 31.

1. Weather. There is a chance of drizzle before 8 a.m., then a slight chance of showers between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. as well as areas of fog in the morning, according to the National Weather Service. Partly sunny skies are expected, with a high near 57 degrees and northwest wind between 5 and 15 mph. Gusts can be as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent, according to the NWS. Tonight will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 37 degrees.

3. Happening now. "Jail and Bail": It's the last day to register for Friday's "Jail and Bail" fundrasing event held by the to benefit Georgia Special Olympics. Citizens can apply for a "warrant" to have an individual "arrested" by the Acworth Police Department and taken to "jail". The subject of the warrant will be notified in advance of the impending warrant and be given the opportunity to participate by "posting bail".

Warrant applications are available at the Acworth Police Department located at 4400 Acworth Industrial Dr. The fee for a warrant application is $50, and must be paid in advance. The subject who is "arrested" will have a "bail" of $50. All "bribes" must also be at least $50 to be considered. Allatoona PTSA Scholarship Application Deadline: The Allatoona PTSA will award four $500 scholarships to graduating seniors at . The scholarship requirements and criteria are on the application. Deadline to apply is today.
