Menchie's Opens in Acworth, National Pancake Week

Here are the things you should know before heading out the door Feb. 25.

1. Weather. There is a slight chance of showers before 1 p.m today, with cloudy skies through mid morning and a high near 69 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Wind is northwest around 15 mph with gust as high as 25 mph. Tonight will be clear with a low temp around 37 and north wind between 5 and 10 mph. Going into this weekend, it is expected to be sunny with a high temp near 68 on Saturday, according to the NWS. However, there is a 20 percent chance of showers on Sunday with a high temp near 71.

3. Happening now. Menchie's frozen yogurt has made its way to Acworth. The shop will be celebrating its grand opening all weekend starting from today's ribbon cutting ceremony with Mayor Tommy Allegood at 11:30 a.m. The store will have free tattoos and balloons for children all day Saturday, and free face painting as well as raffles and drawings to give away coupons and gift cards from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. Menchie’s of Acworth is located at 3348 Cobb Pkwy, and is open 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Sun through Thurs and 11 a.m.-midnight Friday through Saturday.

4. Ahead on Acworth Patch. : This week has been the National Pancake Week, and whether you enjoy pancakes for breakfast or dessert, you'll love the unique recipes by Patch food columnist Chris Arpante.
