Sunny Weekend, Citizens Police Academy, Valentine's Day Recipes

Here are the things you should know before heading out the door Feb. 11.

1. Weather: It is expected to be mostly sunny today, but chily with a high temp near 46 degrees, and calm wind between 5 and 10 mph, according to the National Weather Service. Going into Friday night, the skies stay clear with a low temp around 23 degrees. Sunny weather is in the forecast through the weekend, and it is expected to become a little warmer on Sunday with a high around 59 degrees.

3. Happening now: The Acworth Police Department is taking applications for its 11th annual Citizens Police Academy. The Academy will be held every Tuesday from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. from March 1, 2011 through May. 17 (except for the week of Spring Break). During the twelve weeks participants will have the opportunity to interact with officers and receive a basic understanding of the operations of the Acworth Police Department and law enforcement. Upon completion of the course graduates will be invited to ride along with officers during a tour of duty.
