UPDATE: Acworth Inmate Died of Natural Causes
An officer found Douglas Jay Postell unresponsive in his cell at the Acworth Detention Center.

Authorities have identified the inmate who was found dead Saturday as 53-year-old Douglas Jay Postell of Acworth.
Acworth police said Postell was in custody from a DUI arrest on Aug. 15 and had a bond
set.

An inmate at the was found dead Saturday morning and the case is being investigated, according to the Acworth Police Department.

An officer noticed an unresponsive white male lying on his bed inside his cell at about 7:30 a.m, and discovered that the man had died.
Authorities have not released the identity of the 53-year-old man, who appears to have died of natural causes in his sleep, as there are no signs of foul play.

Because this incident occurred inside the Acworth Detention Center, the case was turned over to the Cobb County Police Department for further investigation.
The Cobb County Medical Examiner’s Office took custody of the body. The name is being withheld until the next of kin can be notified.
