Police Officers Honored

The Cobb Police Department presented several "lifesaving" awards to officers and civilians.

The honored more than 60 of its officers and select civilians during its annual awards and recognition ceremony on Monday at the Jennie T. Anderson Theatre.

The awardees included Field Training Officer A.M. Singleton, who was chosen to receive the “Blue Star” Award. The recognition is for a member of the department who receives significant injuries from an attack or vehicle collision in the line of duty.

Singleton was hit by a vehicle during an unrelated traffic stop in March 2011, causing extensive injuries, including a fractured knee cap, ankle and wrist. It took about a year for him to recover.
